I was part of the audit team, whereby my job was to help obtain assurance as to whether the clients financial statements were prepared in accordance with the applicable framework. I had to work both in the London office and on client site, and engage with lots of different people.
I think the most important skill that I have developed is the ability to communicate efficiently and effectively with both existing contacts and people that I haven't met. This was very important and something that is instilled early on via the strong ethics and morals of the PwC employees
I really enjoyed the programme. I think that it is the perfect blend of university work and actual work experience. This is made even better by the fact that most employees are very supportive, especially the ex flying start's, and know exactly how you feel. Overall, the experience was really enjoyable
The programme was structured well. Everything was clearly listed and there were no errors in communication. The champions were very helpful and very approachable. We received regular emails from course reps and the like, giving us clear instructions throughout the placement. Resourcing was also efficient and effective, which really made the overall experience better.
The support available from PwC was good. There were a number of people that were always available for me to approach should I need to. These included the flying start champions, career coaches and buddies. It was not limited to these people however, as PwC actively encourages approachability for all of their employees.
The support received was helpful. There is a clear separation between university life and placement life. The course reps and employees at PwC are very supportive of your development and welfare is of the highest priority. This contributes to the massively positive work environment that you get used to at PwC
The degree/work combination is really good. It is really nice knowing that what I learn at university will have a direct impact on the career afterwards. The degree is set out efficiently, and I have never felt that the teaching has been irrelevant or taught in a bad way.
The office actively encourages social interaction after work. This includes various socials, such as drinks after work with the team. This is paired with the encouragement to participate in sports, such as the weekly football 5 a side. The social teams are very useful, as they further encourage social interaction.
Yes
PwC is a huge company that helps self development massively. There are large support networks available and the clientele they have is up there with the best. The employees there all have great attitudes and generally the environment is very good to work in. I would highly recommend to anyone looking for a job in accounting
To apply early, ensuring that your chances are as high as possible. It is also worth doing as much research as possible, ensuring the best first impressions with the PwC staff. If possible, it is also worth trying to start networking prior to getting there, so that you have contacts as soon as possible.
