We have two days on independent study and three days on rotation. We have to use various of internal systems and have to complete tasks depending on our rotation. I have done EDD, which is based on remediation. I have looked at corporate and retail customers that are high risks and have had to investigate any missing information that Santander currently don't have. We have to use a variety of skills and learn new ones too. We also have to report any suspicions that we have and raise any SARS if needed.
The new skills I have learnt are: software skills, resilience and the skills I have developed on are: communication, personal development, presentation, organisation. These skills I have gathered from not only through the day to day jobs, but from taking on board the opportunities in which this apprenticeship scheme gives you.
I enjoy my job very much, I wake up in the morning actually wanting to go to work, which it is something I have never experienced before. There is so much that I have learnt not only in the industry but in myself as well, something that I thought I would have never got from this apprenticeship.
The scheme is well organised and have a nice flow to what we do. We have at least 3 rotations, which is a great way to build a range of skills and experience within financial crime. Within the structure it gives us time to complete our qualifications with the two days we have to do this, a day extra than we are supposed too which is great.
We receive a lot of support. The managers are good in keeping up to date with how we are getting on. We have a confidential drop in box if we have any problems we want to discuss. We get an extra day to do our independent study as well which is great!
We get a fairly good amount of support from them. We get meetings with our training provider every 6 weeks or so to discuss any concerns we have with them. In our first exam it was more individual work for my qualification rather than from my training provider, I will have to wait and see how it is next time.
It has helped me create a better understanding in financial crime. When I first started I had just finished sixth form/college and I had a very limited knowledge on financial. After taking the exam I feel I am able to put a lot into my job, so I feel it has benefitted a lot.
Within my apprenticeship scheme we are in a football league which we play on a Monday night. It is a great chance for myself to network and speak to people I don't get the chance to during working hours. There are always events/opportunities for myself to take up on to meet new people, I just have to embark on them.

I feel its a great company to work for, friendly, supportive and they care about your progress. They push you forward to get the best out for you. They help give directions and open up opportunities up for us to take advantage off. Comparing Santander to other companies and speaking to my friends, Santander has to be up there as one of the best companies.
Be yourself. Tell them and show them what skills you can bring. Be open to change and a few set backs, I haven't been here and I have developed so much, but you to be willing to take criticism in order to improve on yourself, this is a great scheme to develop in and make small mistakes so you don't make them further down the line in your career.
