I work on change/transformation projects within the bank to be able the bank to become more modern and advanced, this often requires me meeting with stakeholders to gain requirements for new systems that we are implementing and need to establish what they would like and need in that system for the future
I have developed my skills in excel, confluence and JIRA. I have also learnt how to improve on my stakeholder engagement and interacting with individuals at different levels at the bank while also improving my organisation and time balancing skills as I often have key deliverables within tight time frames.
In relation to the role, I really enjoy it and find it an eye opening an useful experience that challenges me and helps me develop, this combined with the professional qualification being carried out during the apprenticeship is invaluable, however I do often find the QA apprenticeship tasks tiring and tedious and of little benefit to my development
The program is highly structured and organised, with advanced notice of training dates and study days provided long in advance . There could do with being a bit more out of office time to work on the apprenticeship elements and tasks but overall the scheme is well structured and delivered efficiently and timely
I receive a reasonable amount of support, there could do with being some more out of office study days provided to go through the work required for the apprenticeship but there are always opportunities in the business to support my development and learning and they are accepting of needing to be out the business for training
We have a monthly meeting with a skills coach which guides us through the needed work to be done for relevant sections of our portfolio and provides us with support to advise us on these tasks and responsibilities and how we can best achieve them in our working environment etc.
It defiantly helps me to improve, as I go through the apprenticeship, carrying out professional qualifications through that provides me with useful and applicable skills that I use as soon as I'm back in the office and makes my role easier once I've carried out the training in that relevant section
There are some event organised by my grad scheme that aim to allow us to network as well as socialise throughout the year, however due to the transient nature of my role this can be difficult but that is part of the job and is improving the longer I'm in the role and start getting to know people better
Yes
Because the company is amazing, it has a great culture and has so far offered me some amazing opportunities and I thoroughly enjoy working here and the work I do. I very much look forward to coming into work and getting to see what I've produced and the impact its had
Santander is very focused on culture and your desire for the role so make sure to apply to the role you really want to do and feel you would be best at and do your research about the company as it's different to other banks in the UK and abroad
