Each day generally started with a short presentation/seminar concerning aspects of Pinsent Masons and Law as a career - there were presentations on the department structure of the firm, entry to Law, Commercial Law and Litigation. All the work experience students also participated in a business exercise which tested our commercial awareness. The rest of the time we spent with trainee solicitors, who would assign us general tasks involved in research, drafting and writing relating to current projects and client they were working with. I, for example, had the opportunity to research potential clients, see where the Law stood on certain apects of a dispute as well as analyse a past case.
Though we recieved no qualifications for this work experience (naturally), I was able to improve upon my communication skills and confidence as well as gain invaluable knowledge on the day to day running of a commercial Law firm.
I thoroughly enjoyed this programme. Being able to experience such a dynamic career area in a firm that has such a global impact is extremely interesting. I was constantly involved and engaged, unlike other work experience programmes out there. The people who work there really made the experience worthwile.
The programme definitely makes you feel valued - everyone's really friendly and happy to answer any questions you have. They really know that you're there because you want to be.
The programme is very structured and organised. At the start we were all given information packs with everything we'd need, from timetables for each day and assigned emails to a detailed work experience booklet and quiz to fill out.
If we had any queries concerning out placement, we were free to email the graduate recruitment officer. Otherwise, the trainees were the ones who'd offer the most practical help.

It's a great, structured programme which provides a valuable insight for those considering a career in commercial law. You're bound to be busy.
Try to gain as much commercial knowledge as possible.
