  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • answering phone query's related to banking, balances direct debits, fraud related calls. taking part in weekly team meetings one to ones with managers. using Santander's intranet for information/ news/ updates. passing calls through to different departments and following processes put in place by Santander and following rules and regulatations

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • yes I have learned about banking and savings products and external products such as credit cards mortgages ISA's loans etc. I have learned about Santander's history and how to do processes related to banking query's. I have learned Santander's behaviours and telephone manner and what its like working in a office

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoy the programme in the terms of the job and training, we also do apprenticeship work which I enjoy but it is hard to find time between taking calls and doing the full time job as any other employee. I think to enjoy the programme more, I would like to be treated as more of an apprentice rather than a full time colleague with extra tasks as we are getting paid less so I think it is only fair we be given more time away from the phones and job and focused on as apprentices.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • it is well organised/structured in terms of the training but not in terms of the work order - we have a lot of tasks to submit at a certain date and time so its hard to balance the actual work and written work we need to complete the apprenticeship . 1

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • we receive good pay and support with sickness/ leave and breaks and lunches but again in regards to the written work we complete it would be helpful to be focused on more instead of mixed in with the other colleagues - we receive a lot of support from the skills coach for the apprenticeship but not from Santander as a business

    5/10

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • we receive a lot of support from the apprenticeship skills coach training provider as she coach's us along the journey and helps us improve but I do think it would be beneficial to her and the apprenticeship if we had more time to complete our work and then we would able to get it done in a timely manner rather than being rushed or made to do work on our breaks and lunch's - we have an hours development slot but it is nowhere near enough for the tasks we have

    5/10

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • the training received helps do our job better in terms of customer service and working as a Santander employee but in terms of passing the apprenticeship and getting the qualification it can be quite worrying not getting enough time provided to be able to complete half the work handed out.

    3/10

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • yes there is many community projects and event / charity days employees can attend or joint in. Santander has many networks which is brilliant also lots of charity days / networking days are held within the building by managers or other colleagues - as part of the apprenticeship we had the chance to hold our own fundraiser day which was great

    10/10

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Santander?
