My role is to identify ways to help our customer make and save money were possible, not just with myself but with the other specialist in the branch. Also to support them with digital banking and any service queries that they may have. With every appointment we build up rapport and trust with our customers so that they come back year after year.
Yes, I've learnt to think outside the box. Sometimes the way we think really changes everything. E.G having a positive outlook rather than a negative. Also I have gain more knowledge in certain areas for example complaints handling. I am now able to organise a community day myself and organise the team to come along and complete the project.
All the mission that we have to complete are very different, and some I enjoy more than others. I particularly enjoyed being involved in the community days, I have since gone on to organise another event and I am looking at doing one very soon too. Some parts of the programme I feel are very repetitive.
I think the programme is very well structured, it must be very difficult because of how many candidates are involved across the country. I have regular updates with my skills coach and he is only ever an email or phone call away for any questions that I have. Every quarter I attend a workshop in London to upskill us on certain areas.
My employer has allowed us to have 20% of the time off the job, which is extremely helpful as I'm not sure that I would be able to complete the programme with out it. I work part time and have a young family at home, so always very busy. My manager and my colleagues are very supportive in helping me out with certain mission that I have to complete
We are provided with us much support as you need I guess. Any support that I have needed I always go first point on contact in the branch and then with my skill coach. We have had 4/5 skills workshops organised which is always a great help and very supportive.
Certain areas which we have learnt about have made me a better personal banker. For example we did an exercise on asking open questions and this really stuck in my head. This is definitely something that I have improved on in my job role. Also complaints handling, I knew how to log the complaint but always needed help completing the rest of it.
Yes there is, Santander recently done a football tournament. We offer scam schools for customers, community days, discovery day, moneywise at schools- this is where we are able to give our time and help the community. Also if you volunteer for a charity. Santander will match the time you have given and give the time back to you.
