My role is to process the bank statements for Citroen dealerships and certain Peugeot dealerships and allocate the money on our accounting software Pinnacle, I also deal with payment requests from site and speak to site members confirming when money has been paid into our account. I look into unallocated cash on our sales ledger and purchase ledger accounts and see if it is possible to allocate this up with invoices.
My mental maths has definitely improved just because I'm using it on a daily basis. But I was totally new to accounting so everything I've learnt has been a new skill. I didn't have any background knowledge so being surrounded by accountants who could teach me what to do was very beneficial to developing these skills
I do enjoy my programme, the only thing I struggle with is how long the hours are but this is common in every full time job so there's no getting round that. I enjoy the people I work with and there is a great deal of satisfaction when completing a task.
I believe it is well structured once you get onto the programme but the enrolling process was quite difficult and there was not much guidance with that. Once you have enrolled though there is much more to help you along the way, having a talent coach is a definite bonus.
I haven't had much support from my employer but they do give us dedicated time to work on our studies, we also have a talent coach who is much more equipped to help us with any queries and problems we have whilst studying, and there's online help too.
The training provider is great with helping towards the qualification, they seem to really know what to do and the help the provide is always quick and direct. You have an on boarding coach to begin with and then a talent coach to help with every step of the process.
I feel like it definitely helps as there's so much to know in accounting, you need the basic knowledge that the apprenticeship provides but also the harder knowledge as it develops. The qualification also helps when going for another job in the same field as it shows academics and experience
There are a few, they are trying to get more people to join them but not many people do, so the company are trying but not very successfully. They try to arrange social events quite often but we always do fundraisers for good causes on the last Friday of the month.
Yes
They are a very good company to work with and for and the perks are great, the car deals are the best and they do seem to really care about their employees. The career progression does seem really good too as many people move up very quickly so that is good.
Try not to be overwhelmed with the amount of work to do and people who work here, it is a very professional environment so it can be intimidating but this is not the case, everyone here is friendly and do ask for help if you need it, no one bites.
