I got involved in the project management related tasks by organising project meetings on behalf of the project manager. In these meetings and outside them, I also Identified problems or risks relating to the project. I also got involved with managing the Project Plan so colleagues can understand project timelines. Working effectively as a team member and independently, To manage multiple priorities under pressure, troubleshoot, and to meet short- and long-term deadlines. I gained Experience in budget and financial management, whilst developing my written and verbal communication skills I also helped develop my critical and creative thinking and analytical skills, within a project.
I really enjoyed the responsibility and friendliness of colleagues that would answer any questions I had. Colleagues had huge amounts of information. The organisation has a very positive culture to work, allowing flexible working. I underestimated working for a large corporate business, the programme allowed me to slowly get involved within the organisation.
We had day releases/apprentice days once every two weeks over 18 months, this was very ideal. The programme was structured ok, it provided room to get on with your day to day job and do your apprenticeship related activities. When I joined, my manager has shown me the organisation hierarchy and walked through as it was quite daunting to understand.
My manager provided huge amounts of help. My tutor helped me with the assignments i.e. providing expert knowledge to help me word answers and understand the questions. My manager understood I was new to the organisation, so they respected that I couldn't do as many tasks as a colleague is in the organisation for X+ years.
My apprentice coach provided great amounts of help, especially for knowledge internally within the organisation (he was an ex-employee). The tutors had a great amount of enthusiasm which allowed the apprentice work to be more bearable. I really enjoyed the programme, but the necessary apprentice work was kind of tedious sometimes, especially if you learnt it at a-level previously.
I believe I learnt more during my day-to-day role vs the qualification I gained. Some of the theory I brought forward into my workplace, but as it is less of a technical role, I didn't have to use the computing theory I learnt. I'm going to look at completing a degree.
There was plenty of networking events to attend internally, we also participated in an apprentice activity called "Brathay Apprenticeship Challenge" which was absolutely fantastic! I also had the opportunity to integrate with graduate events, these events allowed me to meet new friends from a university background. I also got involved in the organisation's football team.
Yes
A fantastic employer, with great perks i.e. good salary, good pension, great work colleagues My employer allows me to work flexible i.e. work from home 2 days a week. The organisation has a very positive culture and understands the work pressure, so they ask everyone to work together.
The online tests were pretty straight forward, I would recommend revising your GCSE Maths for the mathematics exam. Moving to the interview, the interview was pretty simple, they look at your background i.e. how you work well in a team, or explain a tough situation within customer service. Get involved in all opportunities that you come across, this includes taking part in local events, or getting involved in networking events.
