I am an Admin Colleague and I have been in this role for just over a year and I am responsible for training and inductions. I am also involved in the recruitment process. I am also involved in the Work Experience process and then displaying posters around the store to notify colleagues of any changes happening.
I have learnt how to prioritize and manage my workload better to enable me to complete tasks while doing my apprenticeship. I have also learnt how to enter formulas on an excel spreadsheet and change data. I also continue to be confidential in my role and also ensure training is still being done.
I find the Sales process module interesting on how different things can have an effect on sales in our business as in the weather , sporting fixtures and holidays. Also improving my Maths and English skills as I haven't used them for years since leaving school. I feel this will be beneficial to me in the future.
I have found it to be well structured but found initially the My Life layout very confusing but they have since restructured it and I find it now much easier to find my way around which makes it easier to complete what I need to do. I will continue to do my work and work around any issues I have.
In my current role I am able to make time to be able to complete any training and my employee is very accommodating in enabling me to complete any training that needs to be done. I do feel if i was on a different department things might be different and It may be a different story but i would push for them to give me the time to complete it.
I receive all the training I need and [This section of the comment has been removed by a member of the RateMyApprenticeship Team because it did not meet our site terms and conditions] is very forthcoming and any issues I have she is willing to help me , she is just at the end of the phone although I do try to sort the problem out myself before I go to her with any problems.
I feel it will give me a better understanding of the Retail Sector and especially Tesco as it covers the whole of Tesco as a company and also the colleagues who I work with. It also has taught me about 'Prevent' and how to deal with situations that could arise.
Yes , I am involved in the Social Club committee and help organise events around the store for colleagues to get involved in to bring colleagues of all departments to get together out of work. We also get involved in raising funds for our dedicated charities which are Cancer Research and British Heart Foundation
Yes
It is a good company to work for and if you want to you can develop and work your way up. I also feel the benefits that we get at Tesco are great - we get a 10% discount (after 6 months service) a potential bonus each year , ongoing promotions instore , a payday booklet each month with various discounts on products instore.
Open your mind to working in every department so you are multi skilled in most areas, this way you can flex between departments so will have knowledge of more departments then work your way up the ladder on the options (manager) or apprenticeship programme's ( level 2 in Retail)which will help you in your career.
