1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

I am currently studying at the national college for nuclear to obtain my MOET (maintenance operations engineering technician) qualification. This is so in 4 years time I will be fully qualified to work on site.

2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I have developed many new skills such as hand fitting, fault finding, general maintenance and electrical skills.

3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

This programme is very enjoyable as it allows you to meet so many new people. These may be your colleges, teachers or management staff. Also, if you have an interest in engineering, it’s very enjoyable.

4. How well organised/structured is your programme?

The programme is suitably structured so that in 4 years time I will have the necessary skills and qualifications needed to become a maintenance technician.

5. How much support do you receive from your employer?

I receive a lot of support from my employer. This includes morale support, financial support and education.

6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

If there is an issue or something is unclear, any of the teaching staff would be very happy to go through anything.

7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

I feel that this qualification is very important as it is a good way of easing people into the engineering industry rather than on the job training.

8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

The college often put on events and visits and there are sports teams that you can sign up for.

9a. Would you recommend EDF to a friend?

Yes

9b. Why?

EDF Energy are a very good company to work for as they care about their employees a lot. They also provide a very good training service and many exciting/interesting job roles.

10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to EDF?

Don’t try to be someone you’re not. If you have a genuine interest for engineering and have the correct attitude and work ethic, you shouldn’t have an issue getting a job at EDF.
