My role is to maintain and refurb electrical substations.
I have learnt many skills during the duration of my time as an apprentice due to the first class training that I have received.
I enjoyed the apprenticeship a lot as you get to work practically as well as doing the theory work.
It is very well organized and structured as at the start of each year you get sent your plan so you know where and what you will be doing for that year. They also try and accommodate for leave and other time off as best as they possibly can.
I received a lot of support from my employer as you have regular reviews where they assess your progress and ask if there is anyway they can support or help you in any way. You are also given a mentor who can guide you and help you progress where possible.
The training provider gave us a lot of support and progressed us through our qualifications.
I feel it helps me to understand more how things work and is very useful knowledge when trying to complete tasks through my job.
After work there was a bar where you could relax and have a drinks with a pool and snooker table. Also there was a fishing lake and football pitch which you could go and enjoy after work.
Yes
It is a very good apprenticeship and a good company to work for. It is also a good balance of theory and practical work which I think worked best for my development.
As long as you apply yourself and work hard you will be fine. There is always someone there to ask if you need help.
