  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • On a day to day basis, I and my colleagues take calls from members of the AA PLC and it's partners. That basically sums up the role as we are customer service advisors for the emergency breakdown department. We receive a high margin of calls however, a percentage of them are very sensitive and vulnerable calls.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have developed lots of skills whilst I have been spending my time here at the AA. My confidence has grown, and I have gathered many new problem solving skills which help me not only in my work environment, but also outside of work, especially in my personal life at home.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoy the program as it explores many aspects of the work place through hands on work that we do with the aa taking emergency calls, to doing our work with Catch 22 and learning the theory of customer service and business ideology alike. However, there are sometimes where the work can become a bit tedious.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The programme is well structured, I cannot fault that. For example we have a lot of meetings, off the job learning, 1-2-1's and apprenticeship working time which helps keep interest into the programme and makes it seem like it is something to try and keep engaged in. The communication between catch and the AA is exceptional.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I receive a lot of support from my employer. A good example of this is my current line manager, [This section of the comment has been removed by a member of the RateMyApprenticeship Team because it did not meet our site terms and conditions] He is so dedicated to ensure that everybody else is dedicated and he is so fair and a bright example of what someone in the power of management should aspire to be like.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • I receive lots of assistance from my training provider, Catch 22. [This section of the comment has been removed by a member of the RateMyApprenticeship Team because it did not meet our site terms and conditions] is a very smart and hands on trainer and he helps break things down to an understandable level, no matter what mindset or skill level you have. He is sharp on marking and goes the extra mile to see everyone on their training days.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • The training we receive from the apprenticeship role I feel really helps me perform in my role. This is because the job helps us learn the physical side of the job, however all the theory and science behind behind a good customer service agent is embedded into the apprenticeship schemes work.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • Sometimes we have extra curricular events at work. These include bowling nights, going out for a curry or ordering food at lunch on a Feel Good Friday. There is also an AA football club which is going against other companies and includes some apprentices and other agents from around the emergency breakdown department.

  • 9a. Would you recommend The AA to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • I would recommend someone to join the AA. This is not for the role I am doing though, but for the opportunity to work for such an accredited company. You can really make a mark here and there is so much room to move about. You have CEC, Management, Business Services. There are so many opportunities.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to The AA?
  • I would recommend to shop around before choosing a role. I enjoy my role at the moment, however, it is not 100% me. I have my eyes on other departments though where I know that I can shine and excel. But above that, be smart, be vigilant and pay attention. Get your act and perception right and you can make a living here!
