I enjoy the programme. However it can get stressful at points due to the amount of work.
I've been in previous apprenticeships but this apprenticeship with National Grid has organised down to a T. I know exactly what ill be doing months and months in advance.
I receive support if asked for when having problems. But generally the majority of things that have to be organised on site is down to you to do, which is difficult at first when you don't know the company. This isn't necessarily a bad thing and gets better over time.
Aston University have some good teachers. However some teachers are frankly useless. Time keeping wise, planning wise and proactiveness at uploading lecture notes online wasn't up to scratch. The current process is the speak to the teacher themselves to improve, and if they don't, you go to the head of course and if nothing changes still we go to our manager. Because of the nature of the course, by the time we get to our employer the damage has already been done, and we've had hours of badly taught lessons.
Yes I think know theory helps you understand your role much better
