My role is in working in the kitchen providing a high standard of food for our customers. My other roles include health and safety, stock rotation. On a daily basis internally i interact with other members of the kitchen and front of house staff and externally it can be customers, delivery drivers or phone calls to other pubs.
I have gained my level 1 english and maths. I have developed many new skills in the kitchen mainly being able to handle a busy shift and take control where i have needed too leading the team in the kitchen. I have not yet completed any internal or external courses but it is something that i would be interested in in the future.
It has helped to build my confidence alot and really enjoy being part of the team. My lifetime trainer is very helpful and supportive and is always on the end of the phone if i need to ask him any questions. The course meets my expectations and will be looking at going on to level 3 following this course.
I am nearly at the point of completing level 2. The training has been well organised and the support is brilliant. My mentor sets tasks for me to complete and comes to see me every 6 weeks where we go through the set tasks. Help is always available and is well organised.
My manager and my kitchen manager are always there to give me any support i need whenever i need it. They have a very good attitude to helping and supporting me with any tasks or questions i have. My accessability of support from manager/kitchen manager/ mentor is always available.
I recieve as much support as i need from my tutor he is always on the end of the phone if i have any queries or questions and has a positive attitude towards helping me. He supports and guides me with any problems that arise. I am reaaly enjoying my course in hospitality.
My learning from my appreticeship course has really helped me to understand more in my day to day role. I have put this learing into practice within the kitchen for example understanding more about allergens and health and safety. This qualifaication has helped me alot within my role and now know alot more than i did
Although there are not really any extra curricular activities to get involved in, i often go with the manager to company events for example menu/drinks briefings. We also try to get involved with the community with charity events. Every 6 months we get involved with the staff to go out.
