My role is to lead the team in a manner that complete the KPIs as well as bringing growth YoY as a business. It is also to be the first line between staff and management, or staff and customers as well as being in charge of hiring new staff and training new and existing staff.
I have developed my leaderships and time management skills whilst learning different methods for each. I now see each member of staff as an individual and try to understand motives for coming to work so that I can boost the experience for them so that they become happy and productive employees.
I enjoy that it pushes me to read further and know more about why people do things and how to get the best out of each individual. It allows me to grow my team from coaching and training and seeing what motivates each of them and then act appropriately with them.
It is well organised and structured with clear guidelines of when works need to be completed. There is a hand out that allows us to monitor where we are and evenly spreads the work rather than to do it 'all the night before' like so many other courses might leave you to do.
I receive support when I ask for it. My manager is helpful when I need to ask for some assistance and points me in the right direction rather than giving me the answers. This allows me to learn as I go rather than have the answers given to me and helps my growth.
I have all the support I need from the service provider. If I need to speak to them, I have their mobile number as well as email that I can contact them on outside of sessions to ask for guidance or help. Even other trainers on the course are available when needed.
I think that it allows me to become a better manager to all my staff to realise each individuals potential and allows me to explore how to get the best from each person in different ways that suit them. It also allows me to think about the best ways to further the business and not to act rashly.
None. There are no external activities that are clearly available to me, or that I take part in. Apart from a drink or two at the end of a shift now and again, there isn't much to offer. This might be an idea to start within pub though and maybe have a league.
Yes
They have generous employee discounts and progression plans. With training programs like the MDP as well as other further courses. Their TAP online training platform is also open to allow you do tailor your career pathway to suit you. Whether you want to do some HR or some more money management.
Don't think of it as a job, but a potential career but don't live and sleep GK. Have some time away too. This means that the work life balance could be skewed at some points, but they do try their best to sort that situation and that is appreciated.
