I basically helped a diffrent departmnet each day with whjat they needed doen. Therefore, some days were busier than others. I reviewed contracts, p-roof read documents and did some research on law databases.
I habve learnt various snippets of law and also some skills of woeking in an office and navigating law dfatabases and specific computer programmes
The work was OK, at times there wasn't much to do, but that could be due to the time of year and business of the firm. However I felt any work I did do was more often than not quite interesting and useful. The company culture was really friendly and team orientated. Overall it was close to what I expected
I felt very valued as a potential trainee in the future and everyone seemed to genuinely appreciate wany tasks I did for them. I was definitely made to feel part of the team I was in each day.
I was well inducted and trained in IT etc, and each department knew I was coming . I was also allocated to one or more trainees for each day, and this was really helpful. It was the first time that they had run the scheme in Belfast and sometimes when departments weren't so busy it could be a little hard for anyone to find work. However, there was always a booklet to fill in, and so from that point of view it was well organised.
As it was work experience there was no training

It was a really useful insight into working in a commercial firm, and allowed a taster of many different aspects of law.
Be yourself, start the application form early, be detail conscious and do some research
