Managing the team. Beer orders. Rotas. Kitchen checks. Day to day running of the business. Conference calls. Challenging conversations with the team. Pre shift briefs. Making sure the pub is closed down and opened to standard. Line checks on food and drinks. Taking bookings and making table plans. Management meetings regularly to see where we can improve
More people skills and how to control behaviours. More skills about challenging conversations Learning more about the cellar as I haven’t got a lot of cellar experience I do need to learn more about real ales and cask ales as they are my downfall at the moment and would like to become confident
I wish there was more visits to help and support as one every 6 weeks is a long time to wait and get feedback. I have become more independent and confident especially through travelling to different courses, I just wish there was more support regularly so I could track my progress
The workshops should run along side of the programme. I have been learning stuff before the the workshop so felt either forward or far behind. Other than that I like my programme and my trainer is great and helps at every opportunity. I prefer to do written work and he supports my style of learning.
My manager lets me have time off for the programme but I don’t get paid for any additional work I do myself. I believe I should have more encouragement as I’m barely asked how it’s going or if I need any time to do work or time off to complete my units
[This section of the comment has been removed by a member of the RateMyApprenticeship Team because it did not meet our site terms and conditions] is amazing and so helpful. I know I can call day or night with issues and he would help. When I haven’t understood he’s been patient and talked me through it. I really appreciate his help and support as he always makes sure I fully understand before setting my targets
I have learnt different ways of handling problems and situations. I believe I will use the programme in the future when I have my own pub. I have learnt about different learner styles so now I know how to put them into practise to help my team do well int heir roles
No we don’t have any activities like that for our team but a bonding session would be helpful. The team rarely bond or have anything to do other then go out and drink so maybe a sports club or a team building excercise would work wonders and bring the team together
No
No work life balance. Pay isn’t great. No thank you or praise. Shifts are all over and rotas aren’t posted until the night before the next week. It can get in the way of family life and I barely see my partner because of the irregular shift patterns
Make sure you get trained properly and correctly. If you don’t understand ask for help. Greene king would be a great place to work if they took into account that you need to have your time too. Some managers can be fair others can’t so make sure you have a nice manager
