I work within the resourcing team at Pendragon, working with Hiring Leaders to find the most suitable candidates for the role. I put adverts out, and filter down the applications through phone screens and application forms in order to put the best candidates in for interview. I work with different job boards to find candidates, and I am in constant contact with different Hiring Leaders across the whole business.
Through working at Pendragon I have become more confident in my ability and more confident when talking to people within the business. I have also developed my understanding of a HR function and have improved my communication skills, over the phone, face to face and via email. My attention to detail has also developed as I have to look through a lot of application forms from candidates.
I enjoy my programme as I am doing something that I am interested in and every day is different. I also enjoy the team that I work in, as we all get along. I feel like my mentor has helped this, offering support when needed and is always there to help me out if needed
At first there was a delay in being enrolled onto the apprenticeship and I was learning on the job through training with my mentor and the rest of the team. Now I am enrolled onto the apprenticeship and have a skillscoach who comes in regularly and is available if I have any questions
The whole team supports me constantly and are always on hand to answer any questions. My mentor helps me when needed and will chase any difficult Hiring Leaders and teach me the best way of doing certain things. After working in the business for a few months, my performance was recognised and I received a pay rise to show support for how well I was doing.
My training provider comes in every couple of months to check how I am doing, deliver teaching and observe me working. When she isn't here I can ask her questions either on the phone or via her mobile phone and she will always respond and try and support me as best she can.
As I am quite early on in my apprenticeship, I am still learning how to put the theory in to practice. At the moment, I have learnt more from my mentor and the team around me and by actually doing the role and asking questions if I am ever struggling with anything.
We go on regular team meals to different places and as a team go on different nights out. There are also running clubs and weekend events that you can take part in. We also have an annual awards night which is a weekend away in Wales which you can be nominated for in different categories.
Yes
Because it is great place to work and everyone seems to enjoy it. The team I am in is really supportive and always want to help whilst also enjoying their jobs. There are a range of benefits at Pendragon, team member discounts, subsidised canteen, on-site parking and you always feel really looked after.
I would say a tip would be to research the company and the role you are applying for. It will help if you come in with an understanding into what you will be doing so you can learn quickly on the job. Always ask questions if you are unsure - people will always want to help and will give you the best answer quickly.
