As a work experience student for one week, we had one law-related presentation every day and then we were assigned to a different trainee every day in different departments who give you different tasks to do, e.g. read case summaries, research, paperwork etc. You get to meet quite a few people in addition to the other work experience students.
This will have to be an N/A answer since the work experience was only meant to show you what working at Pinsent Masons would be like instead of teaching you legal skills.
This programme really exceeded my expectations. Everyone I met was very friendly and even if I had to do some of the more menial tasks at times all of this was a good insight into what working as a trainee at Pinsent Masons would be like. Overall it was a very beneficial and enjoyable experience which made me more determined to pursue a legal career.
Pinsent Masons stressed the fact that they were open to any questions we may have and the trainees were very friendly and checked up on us.
The programme was well organised and we were given a schedule so we knew what was going to happen each day.
The trainees were very helpful and were careful to make sure we were doing fine with the tasks we were given.
Pinsent Masons gave a lot of support who spent some time on the first day to introduce us to the firm properly as well as technicalities, e.g. IT, health and safety etc.
Again an N/A answer since it wasn't paid work experience.
Again this was only for a week's worth of work experience for high school students so this question isn't really applicable.
Yes
This programme will be very useful for people who want to pursue a legal career in the future since it was such a great opportunity to see what a top law firm is like and to meet current trainees.
The application process is fairly straightforward but I expect there to be some competition seeing as Pinsent Masons is one of the very few law firms, or perhaps the only one, who runs an open work experience scheme on a national level, so I would advise you to take care with the online application, e.g. grammar, spelling etc.
