I took part in the Summer School Programme that BDO offers. I worked within the Business Services and Accounting department. My daily tasks involved processing invoices, processing bank receipts, bank reconciliations, payments on account and invoice testing for VAT returns.
This two week programme has provided me a great insight into the world of accounting. I have been able to learn the basics of how to use software such as Sage and Caseware.
I really enjoyed my time at BDO as it was well organised and I was able to get involved in a variety of different tasks. The team I was working with were very welcoming and friendly and if I needed some guidance they would be more than willing to help me out.
I was able to get involved with a wide range of tasks and I always felt appreciated for the work that I had done. I could see that the work I was doing was having an impact which definitely made me feel valued by the rest of the team.
The programme as a whole was very organised. The programme involved two induction days to get to know other people on the programme and some training.
Each intern was assigned with a buddy and a counselling manager. Mine were both very helpful and kind and if ever I had a problem or question I did not hesitate to ask them.
I felt that I had lots of support from my team. They were always willing to help me out and would always make sure that I was getting on well.
BDO reimbursed me for my travel expenses.
The location of the office makes it very easy to go out for lunch or meet friends after work. BDO provides a large number of social events which I was able to go along to as an intern and were good fun.
Yes
BDO is a very friendly company which takes a strong interest in their employees. I always felt as though I was being supported by others and the work I was doing was having an impact.
