At the moment I am at the training school learning new skills. Every 4 weeks we learn a new skill and put it into practice. This ranges from electronics machinng, welding and fluid power plus more. on a monday we have our college days and gto through all of the theory behind the electronics, impove out math skill and put the in to real fie application when talking about material properties
I have learned many new skills which I have been able to pick up quickly and understand them well. I have been given anough time to learn the skill and put them into practice and as a result I have been given some further tasks to expand my knowlege when time permits.
I have been enjoyign this apprenticeshp very much as as well as learning lots of new skill, I have been working with lots of great people and the tutors are excellent. i have been given a first year placement opportunity that i get to experience every fortnight. i has been very enjoyabe and valuble as i have been abel to experience lot of aspects of the company that i wouldnt if i was always at the training school.
My apprentiship was a new course that they have not run before and as a result they were a bit unorganised at the start. As the year has gone on, the course has become more organised and i now have more clarity of where it is going. the course i am on now is very well structured and has a good plan for the future years.
there is alwasy support from my empoyer and they are all approachable and will try and sort out any problems that you encounter as effectivly as possible. They keep us informd about what they are planning on doing in the future in terms of what equipment they will be investing in and whether or not we have any questions or ideas about what they are or can be doing.
At the start of the year everyone is tested of thier maths knowlege. They do this to see how much support certain pole will need. they run extra maths sessins fro those that need or want to attend and are always availible to ask questions if needed. once the apprentiship has finished, there is the opportunity to complete extra qualifications and if you can show you are willing to work hard and put time in to it they will fully support you.
Although i have not yet used anything that i have learned in the actual workplace i feel like i have been prepared for it and that if i come across an issue i would be able to fix it effectivly and to a high standard. next year during placements we will be able to put what we have learned into practice and gain valuble experience.
There are a number of extracurricular avtivites to get involved in at work. there are lotso f charity acticities such as sport and hikin gchallenges. there are also extra academic opportunities that can be done. there are opportunities to go to career events and talk to younger poeple about the apprentiship and tell them about opportnites.
