Completing my document control duties. including: document control training, issuing documents, document numbers, transmittals, dealing with queries or issues. Also, completing my apprenticeship work, making sure I keep up date with my homework and making sure to obtain the information so I can successfully pass my apprenticeship. Also, developing our relationship with the client is also important.
Yes, I have learnt more about PDF editor as this is the main tool we use for editing our documents and is the type we issue to the client. I have learned how to use 'Asite' and 'EDMS' which was two softwares I wasn't aware of before. Also, excel, Microsoft, people talking skills, I have gained confidence.
I do really enjoy my programme even though it is challenging, I believe I have learnt a lot about how a project is formed right from concept phase up until hand over and closure. I can relate some of my studies to the work place which is useful as it gives me a better understanding.
I think the programme is well organised however, I would prefer to have class room sessions rather than webinars as I believe for my style of learning it may be easier for be to obtain the information and if help was needed if could be provided straight away instead of sending emails/phone calls.
I do receive support from my employer, whenever I need time off for college I am always able to attend and if I need time to do my studied this is also provided. However, it would be nice to maybe have someone at my workplace or someone from costain to offer more support if needed.
I do receive support from my training provider, I have 2 points of contact which is helpful as if one isn't available there is always someone else to talk too. if I need extra help it is also provided as there is a lot of content to cover within my programme.
It doesn't have a direct link to my job now , but could open me to new opportunities in the future as I'm learning more about the project itself and gaining more knowledge as I'm completing my qualification. Hopefully, it will open me up to new opportunities for future job roles.
I wouldn't say I am aware of any extra activities. Yet, within my workplace we do have a table tennis competition and in the summer a rounders competition which is good and keeps you fit. its good to have a break from the screen sometimes and good to be kept active.
Yes
its a good company to work for and I feel like they have an interest in developing you more. I completed a level 3 qualification and am now completing a level 4. This is only through the help of costain and them approving the qualification I want to do. Otherwise I wouldn't have been able to develop as much.
Research the company and go for it, I don't regret my choice! I think I have developed within the work place and as a person too. I believed I have gained more confidence and my knowledge of construction has also improved a lot which will now help me for future job opportunities.
