I run food , clear tables , lay tables , serve people on bar , occasionally make pizzas and i serve customers on bar ... i do floor shutdown which includes emptying bins , getting sauces in , dating sauces , menus correct . Then on bar I have to write down wastage , clean bar and get glasses and mats in .
Learning the bar . I now after being on bar for about 3-4 months now I know where all the glases are , where most if not all alcohol is . Learnt all buttons on the till and know all the weights and measures needed for such things as shots, wine and half pints etc
I enjoy working with customers to make them happy. I enjoy learning new skills such as bar work , kitchen work such as pots doing pizzas and training behind the line . Also I like to make sure on floor where I’m most comfortable customers are enjoying the food and drink and are happy
Very structured and well done. I do work every month and have a list of what I need to do . I have helpful reminders on my phone to know when I need to see my trainer . I have emails and whenever I need help my trainer is on the end of the phone
I’ve had a lot of changing in managers so not as much as I’d like. I’d like to have weekly or monthly meetings to know what I’ve achieved what I need to work on , how I can go upwards in my role and what my manager thinks of me
A lot of support , always on the end of the phone if I’m struggling. I have emails of my trainer to make sure i remember what needs doing within my work . Monthly reminders and if I’m struggling when completing my work he will always help me if needed
Very much so , makes me feel confident and we will go over things that need working on. I think if I didn’t have the support I do I wouldn’t be as confident . We do various mock exams and I do plenty of revision and show my trainer so I’m ready for gateway
Social network- Facebook page . We have a Facebook group page that has all team members on . This is so any important information ie . Food or drinks or new managers coming in etc . Or if anyone wants to message if we are struggling it’s there for us all to use
No
For the support I’ve had with managers ( swapping and changing ) wouldn’t recommend , and wage isn’t high enough for roles and responsibilities. We do a lot of extra work even without breaks and for the younger ones ie under 18 or just over and they stay and help just so we are not struggling the next day
Make sure you have contracted hours as i’m on a no hour contract and would like to be full time 35-40 hours now I’m 18 and get stressed if I don’t get enough hours and make sure you’ve got support and stick up for yourself if you need too .
