It involved us getting involved in a series of talks and presentations including business enterprise, commercial litigation and different journeys to law and areas of law. We took part in 2 seats and mine were property and pensions where we were given tasks to do by our supervisor relating to the topic area
I learnt a lot of communication skills and in the talks there was a lot of teamwork involved and asking questions. I also learnt analytical skills because I was given a new task to do with no prior knowledge and had to tackle it. Through this I also learnt resilience.
I really enjoyed my work Experience as it gave me a whole new insight into law and especially areas of law I hadn’t even considered before or even knew existed! It also allowed me an opportunity to ask questions and get answers from experts in the law field and that was really helpful
It was really well organised as firstly the receptionist gave us access badges and we had a designated room. Our supervisors came into the room at the correct time so we got to the right place on time. We had designated lunch times and had vouchers for lunch which the catering staff knew about
I learnt a fair amount. This is because I learnt it is a transactional and corporate law firm, each sector has a designated area to sit in and we were told about the companies values. We only got to experience 2 seats which of course was because of limited time so we didn’t get a chance to see everything
It helped me decide that I definitely want to go into law but I plan on going into medical law which was not what this company offers. But litigation seems very interesting and maybe a potential career path if I don’t end up enjoying or liking medical law anymore
There was a chance to be reimbursed as we had to fill in a form with evidence of our tickets etc. We also got a £5 lunch voucher for the pinsent masons canteen and we had one every day we were there. It allowed us to get a range of foods and also a drink and snack
Yes, we had a supervisors who were trainee supervisors and they answered our questions so we had a networking opportunity through them. We also had a chance to meet the rest of the team and network with them. At lunch we could also network with all the staff over there.
Yes
It is a really really good law firm with really good people and everyone was really friendly. They have a really good reputation and are very organised. There is a really diverse and amazing atmosphere there as everyone was really helpful and talkative. Everyone was smiling and answered any questions we have
I would say definitely take the chance even if you aren’t interested in transactional law. You should make a good impression and should dress smart. Ask as many questions as you want as it’s really useful and don’t be shy. Be confident and network with everyone :) as it’ll benefit you
