As an assistant relationship manager I help my colleagues with admin tasks and provide customers with quotations. I support customers with their asset financing needs and find the best solution for them and their business. Day to day I collect information from customers in order to provide quotes and issue out customer documents.
Yep - I have learnt lots of valuable skills such as how to read and understand annual accounts, how to calculate quotes and VAT amounts and other skills related to maths. As I work in a small team who are all based remotely, I have enhanced my team working skills a lot since starting at RBS.
I enjoy my job a lot, I get to speak to new people on a daily basis and always get to learn new things which makes it more interesting and engaging for me. There are lots of career paths from my role so I have the ability to move into something else at a later date.
sometimes its hard for me to balance my apprentice work alongside my job requirements so I end up staying late some days, but I don't mind so much. its structured quite well in that there is a mix of task books (like coursework) to do over different time frames and an exam.
Lots - my line manager is really supportive and we have monthly one to ones that allow me to discuss any issues I may have. I always have the option to work remotely if it would suit me better, and can allocate time at work solely for studying. RBS is the most supportive employer I have worked for.
a fair amount. I have a tutor allocated to me who reviews my task books and any answers any questions I may have - this is helpful as sometimes the expectations are unclear and I don't know how much detail to go into with my work. BPP are good ay answering my queries though
yeah really well - my qualification enables me to learn more about the industry on a whole and where I can go with my qualification afterwards. I have learnt skills that are easily transferrable to my job and it gives me better knowledge so that I can communicate with customers better.
lots of social networking events, we also have employee lead networks where like minded people can get together and discuss certain social issues (lgbt rights, womens rights etc) we have monthly team meetings where we do activities also - this month we are going to play mini golf but I know on other occasions they have gone cycling also.
Yes
supportive and great organisation to work for - lots of career paths and the option to have flexible working if needs be for a good work life balance. great internal learning opportunities - RBS pay for any professional qualifications too so that's a bonus. great place to meet new people as the organisation is so big.
be yourself, they are looking for people who are interested in the field and want to do the job over banking skills - my interview had three stages - online application, a video interview that was pre-recorded questions to answer which lasted about 15 minutes, and then a face to face interview with my line manager and another senior colleague.
