At Pinsent Masons there was a varied amount of work that each student was given. In the mornings usually up until lunch time we all completed an exercise and they change each day during the week, the completion of a mock tribunal case was an excellent insight and I enjoyed working on it. In the afternoons we would work in the office with our supervisors. We worked in two different departments during the week.
There was basic IT training which was valuable to learn office skills with. I improved my team work skills with the morning exercises with fellow work experience students who were also doing the work experience. My confidence skills rose throughout the week abs I got used to working in the office
I extremely enjoyed the work experience and it exceeded my standards. I was very impressed with the exercises in the morning because it meant I was able to take valuable information away from the week and it was good use of my time instead of just sitting at a computer all day.
I thought the experience was fairly well organised. A plan for the week was provided beforehand and at the beginning of the week and mostly everything ran on time and fitted the amount of time allocated for each talk / exercise we completed. However some did run under time or people showed up late.
It was a great insight into the world of work because you were able to see how it was a relaxed yet hard working atmosphere and it was clear everyone got along. I was introduced to team meme wars at the beginning of my placement and they were kind enough to speak to me throughout my time there and provide me with work to do.
It has made me decide I would definitely like to work in law and hopefully go on to study law at university. If the office I hopefully work at when I am older is anything like pinsent masons I would be extremely content with my job from day to day
The work experience experience programme was voluntary and unpaid however pinsent masons were kind enough to reimburse us for reasonable travel expenses to get to and from their offices from home during the week. I travelled by train and it can be expensive to travel to and from each day and I knew people who were paying a lot of money because they lived further away
With the various exercises in the morning we were able to meet multiple employees whom I recognised and spoke to throughout the week. I was introduced to employees in each department when I started working there and it was great to be able to talk to them and for them to give me work and offer to keep in contact with myself for any further help in the future
Yes
I would recommend Pinsent Masons to a friend because I found my time was spent well there due to the amount of activities provided, the friendliness of employees and colleagues, as well as the work provided because it developed skills and provided an insight into office life and work completed
I believe when applying to Pinsent Masons Work Experience you must show keen initiative because it is a valuable experience for anyone and I was grateful to have gotten a place in the group. Confidence is key and you must be prepared to ask questions and look for contacts and act professional
