My role is managing a portfolio of agricultural business with their day to day running of their banking needs. This is from lending, business operations and offering customer service. My role includes many different aspects, liaising with our credit team and portfolio management team, organising events to help the customer such as fraud seminars etc. I also arrange meetings with the customer and also reviews that need to be carried out.
Yes, I have learnt the important of credit reviews, how important filing accounts such as annual accounts and management accounts if required. I already had pretty good organisational skills however this role has allowed me to develop even further. I also now have a better understand as to how to manage my time.
I do enjoy the work that I carry out, however it has been 8 months since I started the role and haven't yet even started any work on my apprenticeship as I only enrolled 1 month ago. The role I do however, I do enjoy and hope for a career in.
Very poorly. As above, the organisation of the apprenticeship has been abysmal however the work I do I really enjoy. There was a lack of clarity as to when we would receive a log in for our apprenticeship, never mind the work book material and when we would be able to actually work on the apprenticeship.
A lot. My line manager is very good. He is already discussing with me what his intended route of progression is for me and we have already had discussions for the future and how I will get there. Any questions I have, I know I can raise without scrutiny, which makes me comfortable at work.
I haven't started working on the apprenticeship yet, so as of now, none. However I'm safe in the knowledge that if and when I require support from my manager, I know that I will receive it. I have no concern as to whether I will receive support or not.
I don't know as of yet. As I haven't learnt anything from the apprenticeship course itself yet, I have learnt on the job through actually doing the role. So it is more the other way round than the question poses. I look forward to finding out however in the near future.
We sometimes do have social activities within the group such as going out for a drink. This isn't very often however and it would be good to do more to get to know the team a little more personally. This has been spoke about however and we may do more in the future.
Yes
The place is great to work. You are looked after financially and mentally. There are many support networks and there is a lot of diversity meaning everyone feels welcome. It is a great place to work overall and in my 11 years of working, it's been the best place to work.
Be positive and if you want to progress then chase progression. No question is a stupid question and if you want to move up the ladder, then you can if you work hard enough. Keep an open mind and you have the opportunity to go far as long as you prove yourself.
