Managing subcontract packages, from procurement through to final count, including constructing the BoQ, tender analysis, going out to subcontractors and liaising between the different site teams, e.g design team, services team, programme team etc. Creating the subcontract orders, managing the SC's on site, constructing monthly valuations, issuing payment notices and forecasting ahead. Responsible for on site GRN filing, liaising between Accounts Payable and material/plant suppliers. Keeping a daily site diary. Managing site instruction register, creating site instructions to go out to SC's. Carry out measures/re-measures where required.
Improved communication skills, due to interacting with different teams within the same project to collate all the information i require. Improved negotiation skills due to communicating with subcontractors tendering for packages on the project. Improved IT/Excel skills due to constructing BoQ's and monthly valuations. Improved analytical skills due to constructing tender analysis' and managing site GRN's. New skills learnt would include learning how to carry out measures, construct subcontract orders and learning more about construction pathology through research and on-site experience.
I enjoy the programme very much, I like the flexibility and the ability to fit my studies around my lifestyle and schedule. Everyone at work is friendly and helpful, the company is very welcoming and exceeded my expectations. I prefer learning on the job to learning via my studies as I personally find it more interesting and learn more this way, but i definitely appreciate being able to learn both ways at the same time. I enjoy what i do.
Induction and training was carried out at the start. The programme is well thought out, the degree content is well organised, easy to access and well structured. The job is well organised, and there are multiple reviews to help see where your strengths and weaknesses lie, which lets you focus on where you need to improve. Targets are set and reviewed, it is all very collaborative and a positive process. Support is available and hierarchy is easy to understand.
I recieve all the support i need, and i know where to go or who to ask should i require anything. I have a good relationship with my line manager and their line manager and if i require any support i know i can expect a positive response and outcome.
I receive all the support i need and ask for, i know where to ask for more support if i require it, and my apprenticeship coordinator is only an email or call away. The general attitude towards supporting me is positive and i enjoy learning the different modules required for my qualification.
It allows me to understand the theory and textbook knowledge of what my job requires me to do. It helps me tie in my on the job experience with what the job requires on paper so i can have a better understanding of my role. Also, my degree study helps me understand my role better and vice versa.
Yes, there are various extra curricular activities available for me to take part in and they are well advertised so everyone knows. There are also voluntary initiatives and the company is heavily involved with the local community and some charities very close to the project which target social issues like homelessness.

The company has a strong ethos which sets it apart from many other companies in the construction sector, with a strong focus on project health and safety and staff mental and physical well-being. The company is also supportive with regards to staff personal and professional development and offers training where required to assist with this.

In the interview be honest and confident. You can't be expected to know everything, realising this and your actions after that are what matter more.
