  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My role as an Analyst involves interactions with senior members of the team and undergoing first drafts of client correspondence, including compliance tasks and some advisory work. Analysts also do a lot of client take on procedures and drafting of contractual documents. We also should consider the risk matters of take on procedures in the first instance.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I am studying towards professional qualifications, which is more formal learning. I also learn a lot on the job, including soft skills and technical skills. I receive both internal and external training, in the form of company-organised courses, and classroom courses by the training provider for the exam qualifications. These occurs on a weekly or monthly basis.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I quite enjoy my programme. The team is young and relatively small, so there is a close knit feeling and we often go out for socials. Everyone is very helpful in the workplace which is nice, especially when I need as much support as I can get in the early years.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The programme is fairly well organised. There is a lot of support teams both in the company and within the training provider. There is also an exams coach within our department who are available for any ad hoc queries and support. At the training provider there is also a dedicated Deloitte email which we can ask questions to.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • There is adequate support from my employer. We are assigned a coach in the team, a buddy, and a people leader. The coach overlooks our overall career development both within and outside the office, our buddies are more informal relationships and are there for any random questions we might have, and people leaders are for appraisals.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • There is adequate support from the training provider. we are given time in college and study leave to study for exams. However I would appreciate if we could receive the study material more promptly and delivered to the office, rather than having to pick it up from college outside of college/working hours.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I have definitely seen the material/concepts that I have studied at college or for my exams applied in the workplace, whether directly or indirectly. It helps to have a full understanding, or enhanced, while helping our clients as well. I suspect as I undergo more exams then this would be even better for my role in the office.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • There are quite a few activities to get involved with, including socials, networking events, sports, and even volunteering. I am currently volunteering while at work and it's great that Deloitte formally provides us with a set number of hours per month to be able to do this, during working hours.

  • 9a. Would you recommend Deloitte to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • There is overall a good culture and working environment, good support system, and graduates are given sufficient resources in order to do well both in the office and at college. I feel supported overall by the company and the people I work with. Despite this, there could be room for improvement in terms of graduate salary increases and bonuses.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Deloitte?
  • Apply early, do your research, talk to others working in Deloitte/similar companies, and try to go for the Spring programmes or internships if you aim to hold a graduate role in the future. Talk to people at career fairs, and get to know what their daily roles are and what they find is important to excel in their work, including soft skills.
