I was given a tour of the EY building and a detailed overview of what the company does. I was able to investigate the different sectors within the company. These included, advisory, transactions, tax and assurance. I was able to choose which one I learnt more about and experienced and this was transactions.
I learnt more about the transaction side of the company and what exactly they do to help. I have learnt that listening is key when talking to the client. This was important because it made sure that the requirements set were all met. I was also required to give presentations and this helped with my confidence.
I enjoyed my work experience a lot because everyone in the work place was very supportive and motivating. The atmosphere of the work place was also very calm and fun to work in. It made me want to come to work the next day. The skills and fun I was getting out of it made it very worth my time.
My work experience was very organised for the three weeks I was there. Each day there was fun and new activities to do. I was required to work in a team at times and also work independently at times. There was a lot of experienced people that helped me understand and make the tasks given, very clear.
I was required to work almost the same hours as a normal person who has a job with the company, this showed me how each day would start and how long it would be. I was also given similar access and given the same freedom and respect that each person has in the work place.
At the time of the work experience, I was not sure what I really want to go into and become. However, with this work experience, my vision was more broadened and it made me feel like I have more opportuninties than I thought I had. It opened another potential career that I would want to take further.
I was paid £5.75 an hour and this was another reason why it was a good idea to take this opportuninty in my summer holidays. This made up for my time during the holidays and made it more worth it. I was not required to spend more of my money only if I needed to. Food was also provided for me by the company.
At the work experience, I had the opportuninty to meet new people that were from different areas in the UK. This was a great opportuninty to meet new people and socialise. The time I was there was three weeks, therefore it was important that I got to know and interact with these people.
Yes
I would like them to experience what I had experienced and make the best of it. During my time at EY, I had a lot of fun and I would want someone to enjoy this opportuninty. I got to learn more about business and what the company does and this would be interesting for someone else to know about as they could want to work in a place like this.
I would say that it is important to be yourself and show why you would really want to experience an opportuninty like this. It is important that you also do your research and find out what you will gain from this experience and how you will make the best out of it.
