  • 1. Please give an overview of what your work experience involved:
  • involved two weeks initial training for the CMI team leading qualification, level 2. This involved working in teams with other participants to complete presentations and projects on a range of things, for example characteristics that make a good team leader to designing a future mobile device. Each day we had the opportunity to network with different individuals.

  • 2. What training and skills development did you learn from your work experience?
  • We received training for the CMI level 2 team leading qualification and also completed written work for it. This developed my team leading skills, team working skills, interpersonal skills, communication and public speaking- especially through presentations to a diverse range of audiences and judges. Developed technical skills as I was part of the advisory team used excel.

  • 3. To what extent did you enjoy your work experience?
  • It was a very enjoyable experience, as the others including other participants and staff were very friendly and fun. It was also a very beneficial experience as I developed a range of skills, it exceeded my expectations and help me develop a better understanding of the professional services industry and EY.

  • 4. How well organised was your work experience?
  • It was well organised. Before the programme starts you attend an induction event where the structure of the programme is explained and you have the opportunity to network with other participants and make friends through ice breakers and quizzes. Daily tasks for the first two weeks were very well preplanned whereas the final week where you had the opportunity to be involved in a project was quite flexible.

  • 5. How much did you learn about the company culture and what it would be like to work there?
  • I learnt a lot about the company culture through interacting and networking with a range of people who work at EY. It is a company which appreciates and values relationships and unique ideas. I especially got a better understand through conversations with my mentor who I was assigned as part of the programme for ten months.

  • 6. How much did your work experience help you in deciding on your future career path?
  • The work experience allowed me to explore advisory services which I had not previously considered. This has helped me decide my future career path, as I was involved in a real project with real employees and see on a day to day basis how their routines are. It was extremely helpful.

  • 7. Were you paid or reimbursed for this experience?
  • You receive reimbursements for travel if you travel from far- as some people who moved into London for the work experience often went back home (to another city). However, others who live in London didn't. Regardless of this meal costs are covered for the first 2 weeks as EY provides you with a diverse range of meals and snacks.

  • 8. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees?
  • There was many opportunities to network and meet other employees constantly throughout the experience. Including the induction, each day different employees would visit the participants and we would get to learn more about a range of roles, as well as the final week where you interact in real projects and learn about individuals career journeys.

  • 9a. Would you recommend EY to a friend?
  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • it is an environment which challenges you to continue to improve and its culture is very positive and friendly. On top of that you receive money it allows you to experience what working in the city is like and to be become more responsible through having your own wages, its a unique experience.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to EY?
  • Don't be nervous during telephone or face to face interviews its fine imagine it to be a conversation with your teacher, make sure you research the company- such as its values and culture. When completely group tasks don't say your not bothered or give very little effort, this is a fantastic opportunity to develop!- so always put your hand up to get individuals and ask questions.
