Accountant Review

It involved many activities such as coming up with a product and working out the budget and presenting it in front of investors, similar to Dragons Den. We also had lots of experience in the real job roles, mine was in the Audit department where I was taught how to do many professional activities.

In the Audit department, I was taught how to audit documents and we were given the opportunity to audit many companies and choose which one is the most suitable one for EY to invest in. We also had to come up with a phone and had to calculate how much it will cost to make, and how much to sell it for to persuade investors to give us money.

I enjoyed it to the maximum, I wasn’t expecting to enjoy it as much as I did as all of the staff and fellow students, who enrolled for the same role, are extremely friendly which made the overall experience better which was already fun and useful to my life.

It was very organised as the organisation had planned when we would do tasks and set realistic deadlines for each task. They also planned every day out so that there isn’t any time wasted so we are always doing something which is useful, showing us how a real work setting is.

I learned lots about how the staff get along with each other and how the culture at work is very normal and fun. Also, I have learned how some deadlines are flexible and some are strict which I did not know before therefore I know this when I get a job in the future and there won’t be any surprises.

It has had a huge impact on my career path as now, I know I want to work for EY or in the same field as the job I had done my work experience in as it interested me very much and I didn’t know what to work as in the future but now I have decided.

I was paid a very good amount of money for this experience which was surprising to me as I only did this for the experience which was excellent. The payment was a bonus and I would recommend others to do this for the experience and the money they can make out of working.

Yes, there were many people from a range of departments in EY from accounting to consulting, which is useful for the future as they allowed you to add them on social media and they gave their email so you can email them later if help is needed for an application.

As there are many opportunities to speak with people from different jobs which can attract you to a job and if someone is double minded about taking on a job, they can talk to someone who is already doing it therefore they can hear about the advantages and the disadvantages of each role. Also there is lots of experience in a work setting which is essential and is hard to gain.

Ensure that you write your application professionally as it is a real job role you are applying to. Get at least 5 others to read over your application to spot mistakes and to improve parts of it. Also prepare for the interview which is a phone interview, write down notes before taking it.
