My experience lasted a wonderful two week programme in the summer which was divided into two parts. The first week consisted of developing and building skills which was required for the second week it consisted of creating logs and taking part in activities such as Dragons Den. Within the second week we were in departments and doing real work, I adored working with TAS because I really enjoyed how it boosted my organisation as well as how to deal with struggling clients.
One of the key skills I picked up during my experience was how to handle responsibility but in a professional environment. I also built up skills in solving problems smartly and realised there is a difference to working hard vs working smart. Another key skill was time management, as we only had two weeks I am managed to work out how I was able to get activities completed effectively.
I enjoyed it so much that I can say there was me before EY and me after EY. The experience was life changing and the fact that EY still reaches out to me after the programme shows how much they care about the young people. It really allowed me to become more self disciplined too by giving me deadlines and responsibilities.
I think my overall experience was organised, there was hardly a time where I felt disorganised. I loved how structured my day was and how I was able to get a real experience of such a huge organisation. I also think the department I was working with was well organised.
With help from the staff and people in the departments I really got an insight into EY. I learned a lot about how they assisted their customers and how they rebooted declining companies, they always made sure to brief me about each activity I was set. What was really amazing was seeing how everyday they showcase their values as a company and how they always think about the wider world.
It assisted me a lot, despite the fact my career path isn’t in accountancy the fact that EY still allowed me to take part in the experience was so beneficial as it really boosted my qualities within my CV and gave me a taste of how to behave in a professional environment as well as building up my confidence.
Yes, not only was I paid after my two weeks but through the course they were generous to provide me and my peers a voucher to Friska everyday. I am so grateful that they did this. I think that they pay they gave allows me and my peers to become more financially aware too.
Plenty, in one instance we attended an event with a lot of people from the EY departments which allowed us to find out more about the company and promote our LinkedIn’s. By accepting invites to EY events which they regularly send out to participants also allowed me to network.
Yes
I recommended it to my sister, I would recommend it because no other work experience is as welcoming or eye opening than EY. They really demonstrate how a company with good morals should behave and embrace young people who they know have the ability to grow whilst encouraging self discipline.
Just because you’re finished with the programme doesn’t mean you stop building the skills you gained. Accept as many opportunities EY provide you because eventually you’ll end up finding the career path that is right for you. When applying don’t be sacred to ask questions either.
