  • 3. To what extent did you enjoy your work experience?
  • The experience I had meant that I enjoyed it very much. The people I worked with, staff and students, were lovely. • 4. How well organised was your work experience?
  • It was organised in terms of the programmes however we always ran over time and this seemed to be a reoccurring theme. At lunch time it was hard to also know who was staying and who was going as everyone left due to the lack of option that they had offered in the first couple of days.

  • 5. How much did you learn about the company culture and what it would be like to work there?
  • They were very keen to inform us about the friendly, personal atmosphere the company had and how supportive everyone was however it did not always feel like that . The workshops focused a lot on what the company does and what it was like to work there, as well as it’s professional nature in the financial world.

  • 6. How much did your work experience help you in deciding on your future career path?
  • If I’m honest, not much I’m still going to go on to study law. I began the experience with an open mind of maybe pursuing a career in financial law however the experience strengthened my decision to go on to study law and become a criminal barrister eventually.

  • 7. Were you paid or reimbursed for this experience?
  • I was paid for my time on this experience. We received over £600 for the entire experience. Even though I was not reimbursed for my travel or lunch at my time with EY, at the big lottery fund I was, which helped as it was more costly to go to Chancery Lane.

  • 8. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees?
  • There was always an opportunity to network with other employees as they were to improve our skills. A key networking opportunity was meeting our mentors for the first time and getting to know them as it allowed us to branch out and Learn from them and get a better perspective into the inside world.
