Corporate Assistant Review

My role involves carrying out tasks to help complete the audit, this includes testing on sections such as revenue and expenses. I have to speak to the client to gain knowledge and documentation for our testing and understand why testing was completed in certain ways. I also carry out controls testing on different areas

I have learnt how to speak to clients with confidence to gain information I need and to ensure they understand what I am asking for. I have also learnt how to carry out the different testing on relevant sections of the pack to ensure I can carry out the work with minimal supervision

I have enjoyed the programme so far as there is a good social side to the job. The job allows you to work with lots of different people and learn how different people work and also see how different businesses work. The job has also been good to see how I can further my career

I think the programme is well organised because many people have gone through the system and are now qualified and working at higher levels within the firm. I think there is sometimes communication problems with some aspects of the programme such as exam dates and study time being moved around without being told

I have received a fair amount on support from my employer for the programme. When I failed one of my exams they allowed me time off to revise for my retake. They are fairly reasonable when it comes close to exam time to allowing you to leave to revise without doing overtime.

I think I receive a fair amount of support from the training provider for the exams. Other than the online resources, there isn't much help from the training provider. For example I would have liked it if someone checks on how you are progressing to ensure everything is going well but this doesn't happen for the first exams

I think the qualification helps me perform better in my role as it gives me the broader knowledge on what I need to do to complete tasks and why I am completing the tasks. The exams help me to understand different areas of audit and practice skills I will need when I am working on clients

There are lots of social events to go to. For example after our audit quarterly meetings there is usually a social event such as a quiz or a meal or a night out which allows the team to get to know each other in a more relaxed environment. Mazars has a good atmosphere to work in as everyone is very friendly. As the office is quite young it is easy to speak to people with similar interests to you. It is also good for career progression because you can see the steps that come with each qualification you achieve

You need to learn how to balance work, revision and having a social life because it can be quite difficult at first. You also need to ensure you can work well with various different people in sometimes quite time pressured jobs which can be difficult. Also expect to do overtime during busy season
