Lots of my work is based around Bookkeeping and using accounting technology to improve our processes. This also links into VAT and MTD (Making Tax Digital). I often use this to help clients to save time/improve accuracy of their books. Helping to prepare Management Accounts and Statutory Accounts by completing as much as the file as possible (the amount I can do depends on the size of the business/complexity of their accounts).
Lots of new skills. I've learnt how to manage multiple clients at one time, some of whom aren't the most pleasant, whilst thinking about studying for exams etc. I'd say that I have developed a lot of my skills, including being able to crack on with a job for multiple hours on my own and learning about the software by messing around with it myself.
Very much so. Good balance between work, studying and life. Company provides things such as social events etc. free of charge and tries its best to help me pass my exams through various forms. I have a nice team who are very supportive of me in my studies as well.
Fairly well organised. Professional Qualifications team always do their best to answer any issues/queries and strive to help me improve in various ways. Could perhaps have set in stone dates for exams given earlier on to ensure I can plan say my year ahead at once (including annual leave etc.)
Lots of support. Manager and team are very supportive of me and what I'm trying to achieve, and seem to understand me as a person, whilst acknowledging the job I have to do and the qualifications I have to get whilst being on my course. Good environment to work in created by employer.
Quite a bit of support. Email me often before my exams to check that I am prepared and ask if I need any support. Tutor always tries to answer my queries online as soon as they can. Always on hand to ask any extra questions leading up to exams or after lessons.
Very much help. Lots of the things I do in my qualification are then used in my day to day job such as double entry bookkeeping (which I tend to use daily). It also helps when clients ask for extra information etc., I have the ability to answer their questions.
Yes lots of professional networking events in the region / in other regions, that I have the opportunity to attend. There are chances to get involved in sports teams within the office or within the local area, that other business professionals attend. If we don't have something already then we can always ask!
Yes
Nice place to work. Colleagues are friendly and personable. Company seem to care about you as a person rather than you just being a number. Right balance between enjoying yourself and getting the work done / getting the correct fees from clients for the work that we do, which I find helps have a relaxed working environment.
Go for it. Have a look on the website, see if it is for you. Speak to current employees / apprentices who can share their experiences. Don't forget that we're client focused and aren't just about numbers, we are about humans and the lives that they live! Give it a try.
