On a day to day basis you are expected as an apprentice to answer and make calls, this could be anything from sorting out a customer query to chasing down a deal. You will also compose as well as receive emails regarding product information to your customers and to engage with them
In my time here as an apprentice at Tech Data I have developed and learnt many new skills. These include; Presentation skills/Public speaking, Sales Lifecycle, Body Language, How to react to pushback from customers, Personal insights (your personality types and how to interact with each other, and many more
In my program at Tech Data I have enjoyed many things, the thing that first sprung to mind was my placement in BU (Business Unit). Here I was involved with Tech as a Service which was is a way of selling customers IT equipment on subscription, It was enjoyable because it gave me a new challenge and a change of pace
My program is relatively well structured, you tend to find out what you'll be doing in the month ahead far in advance. The coursework has a structured layout so that you are not overwhelmed with work at any given time. One thing that could be improved is letting us know about the long term plans for the team.
At Tech Data you will receive all the support that you could ever ask for. This can be anything from asking for additional training in a field that you are less confident in to helping with personal issues. Support is readily accessible to any member of staff and is completed almost instantly
My training provider(GKA) has supported me throughout my journey to getting my qualifications, I know that I will generally receive a response from a question/query within a couple of days. Sometime can even be a matter of hours until I get a response. They are helping me achieve the best that I possibly can
My qualifications that I am working towards will help me perform better in my role because of the sheer amount of training that I have received. This putts the apprentice team at an advantage compared to the rest of our general sales floor as they have not received anywhere near the same quantity/quality of training
At Tech Data there are many extra curricular activities to partake in should you wish to, many people have different football teams that are work based. There is also a work social club that costs a few pounds a month, they do things like bowling, work nights out and even higher out hotels.
Yes
If you are out of education and are not sure what you really want to do then Tech Data is the place for you. This is due to a combination of great people and even better opportunities, you can come into this company as a sales person and end up in completely different role in a matter of months
The tips for applying to this company? Remember to be on time as it gives the right impression from the get go. Be aware that they aren't just looking for school grades on a piece of paper, TechData value individual personality and people skills just as much as anything else
