my day to day job consists of opening business accounts, providing business loans and lending and answering business queries for business customers which is a huge scope. I will have two to three appointments a day and I will also help the branch out with their queries too, it is an independent job
I have learnt a lot of new skills, from working independently, managing my own time, building my confidence and especially my business knowledge, I have also learnt how to work in a team effectively as my team works remotely from one another. I have also improved my written English skills needed for effective communication
I really enjoy my programme as there is a lot of support provided. my mentor will check up on me monthly and my line manager makes sure he can be as supportive as possible and is interested in learning about all the apprentice work I do. I have time to work away from my desk to concentrate on my apprenticeship programme and the bank will also have quarterly meetings with other apprentices to make sure that we are all a good network
my programme is quite structured yet flexible as the work load is not overbearing and I am also provided 20% time off from work to concentrate on my apprenticeship. my mentor and line manager provide a lot of support and the apprentice site tessollo is well structured and easy to use
I receive a lot of support from my employer and they recognise me as a valued apprentice. my line manager offers me a lot of support and there are quarterly meetings with the apprentices to make sure we have a build network of support around us when we need help
my training provider offers a lot of support from doing speeches during apprentice days to having my own mentor who visits me and speaks to me over the phone to make sure I am up to do date with my learning and offering me the chance to speak about any problemms
the certificate from the training provider is great. the content covered is very relevant to my role and will definitely enhance my knowledge for the future when I am looking for progression, the online tests and work is slowly eased in to and does not make it too difficult too fast
I have been involved in a lot of extra curricular activities as I work for multi national company with a lot of opportunities. this includes being a part of employee resource groups, having team meetings and socials with my team to attending business network events to meet potential business customers.
Yes
there are a lot of opportunities within the bank which are suited for all people of all ages from different backgrounds. HSBC really invests in its people and makes sure that we are happy and well trained and makes sure that it looks after out wellbeing and making sure we are enjoying our time with the bank
I would advise to try and reach out to staff and really explore the culture of HSBC and make sure that you will enjoy this. I would also recommend that you do not always need a finance related degree to get in to the bank as a lot of staff are from different backgrounds.
