I form part of the team who plan and schedule the flying programme for TUI Airways; we are provided with briefs and information from various members of the Tour Operator (Cruise, Mainstream, Ski, Lakes & Mountains) with their capacity and destination requests and we plan an optimal and efficient flying programme. The planning takes into consideration previous commercial performance of a flight, the customer needs and times in destination, the hotel bed supply (provided with the brief) and the number of aircraft and crew and the effects change have on the overall cost to the business and the consumer.
Both- I have developed my management style and my reflective evaluation since commencing my Degree Apprentice by exploring other tools available to explore personality traits and team dynamics. I have also gain understanding and knowledge in areas my role does not explore into on a regular basis; such as Marketing and Data Analysis; it has allowed me to gain a greater knowledge of the business as a whole.
It has its highs and its lows! I am really enjoying the learning skills, meeting new people and spending time focussing on my development. The time taken to relate the course and learning modules to general theory and TUI has made the course feel focussed and a 'special' course to be part of. the flip side to this has been the workload; a combination of my existing role and the university work/reading revision has been complex and has lead to a slip in my work life balance. This is a move I have willing made to ensure I achieve the best from the opportunity
It is well structured we have our university blocks and deadlines for the year ahead; the request for earlier information has again been requested but we believe everyone is working to enable this development. The lectures always feel organised, relevant and have great time keeping. The assignments are varied and spaced out enough to allow you to breath without switching off.
My employer has been very supportive. I am lucky to have support from various members of the business; my line manager, my Director and our Learning and Development Manager. They have been supportive in a range of ways, helping guide for information sources, empower me to take control of my working time and answer questions around the course structure and the pattern of events from now until 2022
I have used the CASE (the support function) for guidance in referencing and the online guidance for structures of report/essays and top tips for reading faster and easier. My lecturers have always been quick swift to reply to my emails when I have had a question relating to an assignment. They lecturers have arranged meetings at our head office to allow for a physical meeting rather than virtual comms.
Currently I think is driving me to look further outside the box and consider the actions I take and their influences on the wider business and my fellow colleagues. I have found it has given my a new found need to explore the opportunities in the business and new areas to fill in my knowledge voids
I am currently the one of the course representatives. This has allowed our cohort to feedback information on the course both to the university and TUI. This has lead to communal meetings being held with out TUI L&D Manager to ensure as much information can be found for the 3 pathways the apprenticeship was entered onto.
Yes
I think it a company which in recent years has turned to focus on their employees development and the 'happiness' of those working for the company. There is a relaxed feel in the business whilst still driving the values needed to be a successful and dynamic business. I think they are roles and areas for everyone to work in, which embrace their strengths, likes and personal ambitions.
Always think about the Customer- that is both internal and external. Your actions and decisions will always affected someone else so think about the impact you cause both negatively and positively to help guide to. Explore your strengths and sell yourself - everyone here is an individual and that is embraced
