I am on a rotational programme so I move between the various departments every 6 months. My job role varies based on these but it allows me to experience all the difference functions of the firm before I decide where to specialise, which I have found really useful. I am always part of a team and assigned to a specific client and doing the same kind of work as new grads.
Yes definitely I have developed my communication skills which I think are really important. I am now responsible for email correspondence with clients as well as verbal communication in meetings that I have with them. I have developed team work as we are always working as part of a team.
I really enjoy the programme. I have met loads of friends and am always with people my age. I think it’s a great opportunity, the salary is great for my age and we get loads more experience than we would have if we went to uni which is so important.
It is quite well organised. We have apprentice forums which mean that we interact with apprentices from all over the country and do team projects together. We also have set out university tuition weeks, study days and exam days. The rotational aspect is also good as we get to move around but it’s hard for them to place everyone somewhere where they are happy.
I receive some support from my employer. We all have performance managers and people leaders who we are encouraged to go and speak to if we ever have an issue, and they are good at resolving and acting as intermediaries to try and sort out the problem. I feel supported
There’s a lot of support from BPP. We have classes, either at the centre or online and are given a set of content material as well as a question bank for practise for every exam. We also have access to loads of question practise and content online which is very useful
My qualification has given me the knowledge to understand the concepts behind the work I do say to day. Because when we started the apprenticeship we all had no accounting experience, it has been good to get that from the qualification and be able to apply it to our client work.
There are social events for every department that you are placed in which you are regularly invited to. The apprentices themselves usually organise a pub trip every week after work and anyone is able to join. There are also end of project parties and Christmas parties. We also have sports teams that you can play for.
Yes
I am really enjoying the apprenticeship so far. The people are nice, the work is enjoyable and the atmosphere of the office is really diverse which was important for me personally. I really like that they are so accommodating in general and try to make sure that you are happy
Know their values, as those are important and you will be assessed against them. Be yourself, be confident and use any relevant past experiences in the interview. Look into the firm and make sure it’s the right place for you. Make sure you are ready to have to work hard at times and will be happy to do so
