I took part in a PWC Business Insight Week to find out more about tax and deals transactions higher apprenticeships. We spent the first day in an introduction and training session where we learnt how to act in the office, how to be professional and how to make a good first impression. We also found out more about PWC as a firm and networked with others inside the business. On the second, third and fourth day I had the invaluable experience of shadowing some higher apprentices. This allowed me to ask questions about the job and also perform some of the tasks that they would carry out within the job. I really enjoyed deals transactions as I feel that it was more suited to what I am interested in. On the last day we had an assessment day where we had to carry out exams and tasks to test our ability in different areas. This was difficult as it required a lot of concentration but I enjoyed the challenge. To finish off the week PWC held a celebration for us where we were able to relax and chat to some of the people we met during the week.
I feel that this week has developed my skills dramatically. My confidence has improved as I have had the opportunity to network with very senior members of PWC and make a good impression. I have also learnt new computer skills as I worked a lot on excel completing tasks and projects. I learnt the importance of being profesional at all times with both clients and work colleagues in order to create the right impression of myself and PWC.
I loved the work that I was given to do as I found it interesting and also challenging. I especially enjoyed it because i was working with real life situations which motivated me to take the job seriously. I was surrounded by a great team who were always happy to offer their help and guidance, they were all hard working and enjoyed their job which encouraged me as I saw the satisfaction they received from completing a task correctly. PWC encourage a hard working yet caring work place which I think is very easy to fit in to. The week exceeded my expectations as I didn't realise how beneficial it would be for me deciding what I would like to do in the future. I was able to get an honest and true opinion of PWC as a firm and what it would be like to work for such a professional business. I was very impressed with the ethos of the work place and how helpful the staff were to me.
PWC made me feel very welcome and very valued within their workplace. I really appreciated the fact that i was treated as an adult and trusted to work on real life projects during the week. Not only did they let me into their business but they also very generously treated me to lunch and paid me for the week which made me feel very cared for and appreciated. It's clear to see that PWC care for their employees and value their job satisfaction.
It was evident that the Business Insight Week was very well planned and that a lot of time and thought went into making it a very beneficial week. On the first day we were trained as to get the most out of the week and make the best impression whilst in work. Throughout the week there was always work planned for me to and a schedule was put into place as to where I was going and when. There was always someone near me to help me which made me feel comfortable and at ease.
Over the week I had several training providers as I had contact with the student recruitment team, the higher apprentice who I was buddied with, the managers of the team and other workers who were there along the way. They were very accessible as I felt I was able to contact them at any time with anything that I needed guidance with. They were always happy to help me and find out an answer to my query. I enjoyed having a team of training providers as it helped me feel welcome in PWC and helped me get the most out of my week.
I found PWC very supportive as they provided me with online help when applying to them, encouraged me along the way and are a very generous firm. They are always happy to help as they care about their employees.
I did not expect to be paid for the Business Insight Week but very generously I was. It more than covered my travel costs and that was the only main cost that I had during the Insight Week.
As I was only there for one week I did not get to experience any of the varied activities that PWC provide for it's employees.
Yes
I feel that they are a very encouraging business who love to satisfy their employees and ensure that they are comfortable in their workplace. They treat their employees well and over the week I felt very welcomed and was really made to feel part of the team. They offer job opportunities to both old and young employees which is important as it means that you are able to strive to progress in you job which motivates you to work harder and satisfy your goals.
I would advise that they would show their honest passion for working in PWC in their application and that they should prepare for the tests and assessment day as it is requires practice. Be confident in your application and show that you are a strong individual who would benefit the PWC work team and most importantly be yourself.
