On a day to day basis, I fulfil numerous roles, I take on daily meetings (stand-ups), complete my own meeting plans, complete tasks set to me personally which have included creating a Jira Board, a confluence page and also creating a project budget. I have also worked on numerous projects for both internal and external clientele.
During my short time at KPMG, I have developed and learnt many new skills including my presentation skills, my development in team work and also how to take on tasks solely and take on responsibility. I have also learnt that it is okay to make mistakes and not to be afraid of asking questions if you require the help as there are many willing individuals who will help me gain the experience and knowledge I need for a successful career.
I enjoy the programme particularly the work based. I enjoy the learning opportunities I have had during my short time here and also the benefits of working for a large corporate business. I have enjoyed how welcome I have been made to feel as part of the team and enjoyed the challenging moments I have faced.
Due to the fact we were the first set of apprentices to complete the digital course there was some misunderstanding when we first joined. Originally, the team we entered did not expect as many apprentices as there was. We are also leasing a building rather than in the KPMG office meaning that we had no desks to sit at or an office at all so we had to sit in the communal area for a long period of time which left us feeling as though we were not a part of KPMG or welcomed or wanted. However this was swiftly rectified and is no longer an issue.
from my personal experience I have received a lot of support from my employer whether that be for my own welfare or for work based scenarios. I struggled to decide what I wanted to do and with regular meetings with my performance manager I have decided on what route I want to specialise in within the first 7 months of my time here. This has been supported thoroughly by both my team and my managers.
From our training provider the support we receive in terms of our degree is minimal and poor. The webinars are poorly structured and do not enhance our knowledge on the subject. This then becomes an issue when it is time to complete our assignments. During this crucial time it is expected that we were to have the support and contact with our tutors should we require it. However, many of us were left with no answers and no form of contact. This lead to many of the other apprentices in our cohort struggling and receiving poor results from the first summative assignment.
Whilst I am not happy with the support provided by our training provider I feel that the course content so far has been applicable to our work especially regarding the Project Management Fundamentals course. This was extremely interesting and enabled us to see the "behind-the-scenes" of how the projects we are all part of are set up and ran.
Yes there are many extra-curricular activities for employees to get involved in with something for all. From sporting teams (5 a side football, ski club) to pub quiz nights and even dungeons and dragon games nights. There have been many professional networking events ran with the possibility of expanding our network and engaging in conversation with some interesting and professional people.

Overall, I would definitely recommend KPMG to my friends. I have thoroughly enjoyed my short time whilst at KPMG, I have been made to feel welcome and part of a team and also faced many challenges which I have been proud to over come. Furthermore, I have enjoyed the responsibility given to me whilst here at KPMG which has lead me to feel like a valued member of the team.
The advice I would give to others applying for KPMG is to be yourself. Ensure that you are the best possible version of yourself and present that to the recruiters. Get your name known before applying by attending the different "Get a-head" sessions which are ran before the recruitment process.
