I deal with inbound calls from Post Office Counter staff. These calls can be anything from how to sell a 1st class stamp, to balancing the office at the end of the week. I am a tier two advisor so I also investigate more complex calls that cannot be handled on the front line. I also deal with customer enquiries via email.
I wouldn't say I have learnt any new skills but I have been able to improve on some of the skills I already had. I now understand how collaboration between different departments is necessary to complete the whole job, and how I can work better to improve that relationship. I have a better understanding of myself, my learning styles and my emotional intelligence.
I enjoy working through the topics and learning about myself and how I can influence things for the better. I have found some of the modules quite difficult and find the platform we use isn't very user friendly. I find myself having to do work twice as it hasn't saved or the document we are provided won't edit!
The platform has things structured quite methodically but I don't feel there is much organisation. The planner tells me when my next appointment is but this is never correct? I think a lot of the problems with the organisation are to do with my place of work not understanding what is required of them.
I'm going to say none, they book me out for my visits but we don't get given any additional time for off the job training that we are supposed to get. I've raised it and my regional trainer has raised it but nothing has changed. Despite the PO having a personal development strategy.
I think the support could be better, especially when it comes to using the lifetime platform. There doesn't seem to be anyway to contact anyone in relation to the content of the lifetime platform. I often end up emailing my regional trainer and feel like I am harassing her.
I think the qualification has/is opening my eyes to a lot of things I wouldn't have thought about before. Planning meetings and training, collaborating with other departments. I often find myself leaving a meeting thinking this could have been planned better and would have been more relevant and productive. Previously I'd have just come out of the meeting saying it was waste of half an hour and wasn't relevant to our role. I am able to plan my work load better and meet my objectives easier as I now have an understanding of planning using SWOT and other methods
No, I don't attend any extra-curricular activities with work. I spend enough time at work and have a busy life outside of work, with my dogs and horse. I have been on a recent night out that was organised by the management to recognise our hard work. I've been working here for 19 years and this is the 1st official event I have attended.

They are a good employer, they pay well, they have excellent employee benefits. There are lots of different jobs within the company and progression through the ranks is good if that is what you are wanting. They value their employees and though things could be better they are working hard to make them better. I have been with them 19 years and don't plan on leaving anytime soon.
Be yourself the company likes diversity. Look for a role that you meets your skills and you can always branch out and progress from that. Even some of the shorter term contract they advertise can turn into longer run projects or if you have proved yourself they will potentially find you a position elsewhere in the business.
