In my current rotation, I am a HR consultant. I am a part of a group of people who go to the client site and implement a HR system for them. On a daily basis, I will be helping with PMO activities and supporting my team members.
Ask questions! As a new apprentice, I knew very little about the company, the client and the tasks I need to be performing. Although observing was helpful, asking questions helped consolidate/correct concepts, thus improving my performance on and off client-site.
I enjoy learning new things every day, contributing to the business and exploring my career options. However, it can be very difficult to balance university assignments and work deadlines. I feel some support in my degree could go a long way!
Very structured. I have an advisor dedicated to my university, a PM, a buddy and many other people I can contact if I need support. I feel BPP and KPMG should communicate about timelines to ensure we have a variety of experiences before BPP asks us to choose out specialism.
A lot. I am well looked after by my assigned buddy and project manager. Not to mention everyone being so helpful!
Very little. Many teachers do not answer questions asked regarding the assignments but rather ask us to read the material again! Often times, the feedback received on out mock assignments is not helpful and neither is the feedback received on our final assignment.
Not all modules are relevant so it takes a conscious effort to apply it to the role. This also varies when modules and rotations change.
There are many networks to get involved in. It all comes down to networking and availability.
Yes
The people are amazing to work with! A structured company makes you recognise how much you can get involved in, how much you can develop. amazing opportunities for travel, training and career development.
It's hard work but the long term rewards are worthwhile so go for it!
