I am currently on my second rotation working in the UK learning department. Every day is different. My tasks range from admin tasks for example updating old training course descriptions with new descriptions to actually attending training courses themselves at different venues to help out with set up and table facilitating.
I have learnt a lot of skills during my first 7 months as a KPMG apprentice. Prior to joining I took a gap year where I worked full time as a payroll administrator. This meant I had a basic skill of writing professional emails. Since joining KPMG this skill of communicating has 3 excelled as I communicate with may different people of different grades on a daily basis,
I enjoy the programme to a large extent. I think the rotational aspect is the biggest strength it has. After leaving school many people do not know what they would like to do career wise and university is definitely not the only option. The fact this programmes allows people like me to explore a very wide range of areas in such a large business is an amazing opportunity. I have met really nice people too.
I believe the programme is well organised. I particularly like the way the rotations are emailed to us detailing who exactly our new manager are. The mini bio you can send to your new team prior to your new rotation is also a good structure point. The apprenticeship forums are well organised and a good way to network.
KPMG offer a lot of support. For example receiving our day study leave each week is never an issue. I am aware of the support KPMG can give in terms of having problems in your personal life and even though I have not required to use this support I feel assured it is there for me if needed.
BPP are the training provider. There is one main coach who we liase with in regards to any issues or questions we have in regards to our qualification. The webinar and face to face sessions are very helpful. I believe the support we receive from BPP has grown since the start of the apprenticeship. At the beginning we were left in the unknown of what was expected from us for our first assignment and the feedback was limited. however this has improved massively and personally I feel much more confident completing the assignments.
The assignments we are required to complete focus on our job role and providing evidence of the tasks we complete on a day to day basis to fulfil certain criteria's set by the training providing therefore I think our job role helps us to preform better in our qualification rather than vice versa as the questions states,
There are many extra -curricular activities which KPMG offer, which I probably do not use to my advantage. There are clubs you can join including sports teams. for example I know the Watford office do have a football team who play most Thursdays. The apprenticeship forums are professional networking events which I believe are very beneficial to the apprenticeship programme.
Yes
I would recommend KPMG to a friend mainly because of the wide range of opportunities they have to offer. I would particularly recommend KPMG to a friend who like me did not want to go to university but instead wanted to enter the working world and find out what was on offer in different areas
1. Take every opportunity that's comes no matter how big or small. 2. Don't be afraid to enter out of your comfort zone and try new things/roles 3. It is so important to find and maintain a healthy work-life-study balance. 4. networking Is key 5. Have fun!
