I have now moved to my 2nd department which is immigration (I was originally in audit). On a day to day basis I deal with External client case works of people who want to work in the UK with their visa application. The overall role of my apprenticeship is a rotating programme where I spent 6 months in a department then switch.
I have learnt and developed new skills from working at KPMG, mostly professionalism and how to speak to people in a manor which fits a corporate working environment. I have also learnt how to plan in advance. This mostly helps with travel as I do a lot of that, especially when I was in audit
KPMG's 360 programme varies day to day which is like anything in life however overall I really enjoy it. Such a massive opportunity for me as I've now got my foot in the door at the professional services door, you meet so many people and it's great for networking.
For the work side of the apprenticeship - Fantastic. Everybody knows where they are at and whats going to be happening over the next few weeks. However for the education it isn't as good of a standard - this may be due to it being 3rd party however I feel some of the off the job learning hours are forced for example the reflective statements in which we need to write seem a waste of time.
My employer backs me 100%, KPMG is a great company to work for and caters for circumstances in which you may have, they are extremely understanding and very supportive. Everybody in the company has each others back and I am glad to now be a member of such a great firm
As it's my first year in the apprenticeship and I already completed the qualification for the first year. I cannot really comment on the support provided however resourcing seems to be good. Similar to resourcing the education material is also good. BPP provide students with a lot of reading material.
As my course qualification currently doesn't reflect my current job role I would say not so much. however when I was in audit accounting knowledge really did help. However AAT as a qualification is built for sole traders and partnerships focusing on more smaller businesses. However with KPMG we tend to deal with big clients
Yes KPMG host a office monthly social, this has varied from Go-Karting to paintballing. There's also a smaller social every Friday (atleast in the Manchester office there is) where colleagues can meet up after work and relax and talk. KPMG also host Breakfasts between junior and senior roles in the company helping new apprentices get the chance to meet and great more senior people.
Yes
KPMG is a great way to develop your career path. Especially if you aren't sure where you want to end up the 360 programme is a great option, giving you the opportunity to rotate through different departments. KPMG also Cater for people who know EXACTLY where they want to be with the fast track programme. This speeds the qualification up and you are placed in your department of choice
Be Yourself, at KPMG you aren't forced to 'fit in'. Also try the discovery programme, I personally didn't take part however a lot of my colleagues did and told me it was amazing - you also get a chance to see what its like in the day of someone at KPMG
