I do the jobs that a travel advisor does. However as an apprentice, I complete modules and provide evidence of work I’ve done and then submit it to my assessor. I deal with bookings, travel money, taking payments, quotes, queries, western union, brochures and so on. It is always an interesting day
Yes I’ve learnt a lot of new skills at this job. Especially geography and customer service. I have also increased my confidence levels. I use the computer a lot when working with customers and when doing my apprentice work, so I have learnt a lot of new computer skills too.
I enjoy the programme a lot and there is always somebody to help you if you need any help! It is very well structured and organised. You also can work independently or with somebody else. You receive a lot of support too. I like how every module is different and can be challenging
It is very organised. There is frequent days out of the shop where all the apprentices will meet up. You can also have frequent phone calls with your assessor. Everything is always very well explained. If your work is returned to you, your assessor will always be detailed in what you need to do
I receive a lot of support from my employer. My employer always has supported my needs. For example if I needed a day in the back office to catch up on my apprentice work then this is supported. My manager is always very helpful and makes sure I have all the help I need
A lot of support is received from my training provider when working towards my qualifications. I have made them aware that I’d like to receive a high grade and finish my apprenticeship earlier than 2 years so I am given all the support and guidance that I need for this.
It definitely helps me perform better in my role, because providing evidence of the work and completing modules helps you remember things, but it also helps you to learn from them and help you figure out what you can do better. Also you learn a lot of different topics which definitely help you with customers for example geography
There is a lot of events which are shared onto SMILE or emailed to you to get yourself involved in. At the moment I haven’t taken part in any as I’ve only worked for the business for two months. But I would like to get involved in them soon.
Yes
I would recommend TUI to a friend, because it is a very supportive business and everyone is so helpful to achieve what you’d love to achieve. My colleagues are the nicest people I have ever worked with too. The job is always fun and there’s always something to do
The tips/ advice I would give to others applying to TUI UK would be to definitely go for it. Even if you haven’t got experience in the travel and tourism sector, these can be learned on the role. It is a great business to work for and very supportive/ helpful.
