In my role I am part of a team of assistant relationship managers and relationship managers and I support an RM in day to day activities such as responding to customer queries and contacting customers regarding fraud to ensure they are aware of this. I also keep in regular contact with my portfolio manager in India who will deal with certain parts of lending for our customers and we have a catch up every week.
I have learnt many new skills and this includes engaging with customers over the phone and face to face so my confidence and communication have improved through doing this. I have also developed my teamwork skills as I am part of a team and I get support from other members of the team and also offer support to others where I can.
I am really enjoying my programme as there is a lot of variety in what I do day to day and I get the opportunity to learn from others which Is something I really enjoy. I am also really enjoying learning and gaining qualifications through something that I enjoy doing every day.
My programme is both organised and structured. The apprenticeship programme provide a textbook and online log in in January and after this there is a weekly webinar covering each of the chapters in the textbook. This is very helpful as the webinars are also available to watch after they have been played, I find the virtual learning environment very useful as there are slides and tests to do to check that I am learning the content. I also have regular reviews with my skills coach who shows interest in what I do and gets feedback from my line manager.
I receive a lot of support from my line manager and all others around me. If I have a question or need help with something I feel happy to ask anyone in my team or even in others teams as everyone is approachable and wants to help me learn so they will explain it to me in detail so I understand why I am doing something.
I receive a lot of support as my skills coach offers advice on what I should do and support with my workbooks to ensure I have very little corrections to make. I also receive emails with reminders and tips in order to help with my revision and what to do next in order to help with my revision.
My qualification helps me perform better in my role as through completing my workbooks I am learning about regulations and applying this to my job role and also by completing the tasks I am relation my qualification to my job and learning how to use them both to help my learning.
I have attended a young professionals networking event and also a real estate networking event which I found really interesting speaking to may professionals from finance sectors. I have also attended charity days with my team where we have spent a day to help working with a charity. I have attended two careers fairs where I have spoken to students about the apprenticeship programme I am doing.
Yes
I think that NatWest is a well respected business in the banking industry and I feel respected by everyone and well supported through my apprenticeship so far. I would also recommend NatWest to a friend as there are many different things to get involved in such as promoting women in the workplace.
I would suggest to anyone looking to apply to NatWest to make sure that they really do some research into the job role to ensure that is is something that they are passionate and interested in otherwise you could end up doing something that you don’t enjoy. I would also say to spend time completing the application to ensure you don’t rush the process.
