Personally it went off to a poor start as we had know clarification to say that the programme was up and running. We where already near the end of our probation before we got a meeting. Personally I think that the communication at the start was shocking therefore I will rate this experience at the moment a 4.
I have improved on some skills and have learned new ones such as time keeping. Personally I fell that I have developed some skills such as communication to someone that I haven't met before as this is a key part of the role. Overall it is a neutral balance.
To be honest at the moment I am not enjoying it as I feel that it is sometimes added stress, as we are so busy trying to focus on our job at hand which is serving the customers as well as balancing it with apprenticeship work. It may improve but just now its not great.
The programme didn't start straight away, and in fact took longer than expected. It wasn't until I was 5 - 6 months into the job before I received any clarification that the apprenticeship was still going. Therefore I feel that there is a lot of work still to be done to make this successful.
I receive a lot of support from my deputy and line manager. They are helpful and understanding and give me time to complete the tasks at hand. However the programme itself only gives us 80 minutes 2 weeks which I fell is not great. Therefore I think there is still room for improvement.
I have just met my training provider a few months back. Everything is going well and I appreciate what they do for me, however I fell that we should have been introduced to them at the start, as I already thought I would be half way through my apprenticeship at this stage.
Essentially it helps as it gives us motivation. I feel that it is quite useful if you want to add something to your cv. Therefore I do feel that it is quite useful and that if you want to progress within the bank or else where it will definitely help.
There are teams events that our organisation do, and to be honest they are good. It allows us to gel as a team essentially helping our team chemistry. This is useful as it keeps everyone happy, therefore meaning that everyone is motivated to do the best that they can do .
No
The only reason I wouldn't recommend RBS that most people work a permanent Saturday. For me this isn't needed as on a Saturday it is always quiet. Therefore I would like it if we could get the occasional Saturday off as we all aren't needed. This would be great.
Make sure you are well prepared, it is a fun environment with great people, however at times it can be a stressful job that requires full commitment. Overall I would say if you fell that its the job for you go for it as you don't want to miss out on an opportunity.
