Apprentice - help out with tasks in audit/tax/advisory depending which rotation I am in. I have worked on many different audits during my audit rotation and did different sections of audit files, including process notes, walkthroughs, testing and I am now on my tax rotation, doing client acceptances, engagement letters etc
Yes - learnt many new skills during exams, such as accounting terms, I have also learnt in audit how to perform certain tests and work on certain sections of a file. This has helped my knowledge of accounting as a whole as well as audit specifically. I am new to tax but I am learning new skills already.
I enjoy it, it is good to learn new things while on study leave and during tuition for exams. The job is also very interesting as there are a vast amount of clients we work for, there are so many different types of businesses and individuals that require our work.
Organised - we have quarterly 'apprentice forums' which we are currently grouped with others on our apprenticeship around the country to do a competition at the end of the year. We also get given exam dates / revision dates at the start of the year for the rest of the year year
Lots of support and from many different people. We each have a PM who is on the 360 team, we also have individual PLs (people leaders) in our specific office who also give a lot of support. We get support from tutors at bpp for exam specific queries and PQA also.
Lots of support, we get regular emails to keep us on track with the steps achievement ladder we have to complete on bpp website before we take our exam. We also get quarterly phone calls with the bpp team to discuss the past 3 months and the future goals for the next 3 months until the next call
Helps a lot, you learn a lot of terminology that is used on a day to day basis on the job. This allows you to grasp ideas quickly, more than if you did not know these terms. It also develops your knowledge of different sections (audit, tax and advisory) which helps you do a better job.
Yes, lots within my office, examples are bowling nights, there has been a trip to the races. there is also a plan for a sports day with my office. As well as this we get CSR days to take where we can do charity work or recruitment work such as presentation in a school
Yes
They are a good employer, there are many perks such as good expenses when you are away at a client / on a training course. You get given study days for when you have an exam and time to sit your exams. The people who work at KPMG are also great
Good luck and be prepared for your interview. Be open minded and enjoy your time on the rotational programme, if you get a rotation you don't really want, be open minded as you may enjoy it. Also work hard for exams and use study days wisely as you will be rewarded in the end.
